These works are made during walks along the Taw and Torridge Estuaries in North Devon, a place where I spent lots of time as a child and where my grandmother still lives and in Porlock Bay, North Somerset. I'm interested in using earth and materials from the place directly on the paper to make marks and drawings. I work with rubbings of the ground, earth collected during my walks to create marks and quick ink sketches layered upon each other. I try to capture a sense of the place, its many layers and local histories to create an alternative map of my experience walking it.
